
1. Grand cow group - Down the Mountain Festival ("German" Viehscheid "or" Almabtrieb "until September)
Every spring the cattle herd takes you to a high meadow and eats nutritious grass in the Alpine mountains. They stay there through the summer and are being watched by the shepherds.
Every year in September these herds come back to the valley and are being returned to their owners at the magnificent event where hundreds of cattle have been driven into the valley together. To celebrate the success of the summer without accidents and losses, the cow is elaborately decorated and occasionally competitions for the best decoration are taking place. 2. Old fashioned cattle market in Bochung village (5 km from Schwangau / Neuschwanstein) End of September
By the end of September the neighboring village of Schwangau Buching / Halblech organized the traditional cattle market. As in the past, farmers agree on price negotiations and concessions.
