Why El Molar
For my fourth visit to Madrid there was a checklist of what I wanted to do and sightseeing spots I had been waiting for. When Aris proposed to visit a Spanish friend's village El Molar, I thought OK would feel Spanish country and not Toledo, but try it. Learn more ...
Olivares their love for families and eagles!
It turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip as I met the most welcoming people and had the most authentic Spanish feelings about food and atmosphere. Fernando (a friend of Alice) has been one of the sons of the Olivares family who had a traditional Spanish tavern, Casa Olivares, and a traditional Spanish restaurant Bodegon de Olivares with a cuban cave since 1807 It turned out to be.
At Casa Olivares, Olivares Senior had the opportunity to admire the two wonderful huge eagles trained for years. One of them fly above the head and there are several types of beautiful owls and small eagles among the big bird birds. Casa Olivarez also has a small museum with family portraits, folk crafts and impressive armor called El Cid. If the bird is not yours, you can drink bees and Vermont with a typical Madrileno style tapas bar, or drink with the surrounding Madrid and the tourists surrounding you.
Food - Wine - Landscape
You can continue your day there, have lunch and dinner at Casa Olivarez, choose Bode de Olivares for a romantic and quiet environment. This restaurant is located on a hill, overlooking the wonderful view of El Molar, inside is filled with a cave as a room as a restaurant as a table for a long-established wine. Bodega is a convenience store in Spanish and means that it sells wine and groceries. On the hill of El Mormar there are more than 400 cave sits between the three hills with two hundred wineries. Some of them are distinctive, some of which are remodeled as a restaurant offering local, regional cuisine. Special lamb, or salt and lamb of garlic, delicious black pudding, chorizo, tim chili, steak, pork, lamb freshly baked. We had a plate of traditional Spanish sausages.
On our day we continued lunch at Casa Olivares in the main restaurant area of the pub. I chose a very soft calf steak with a delicious fresh salad with lettuce and onion. It is one of the best and most authentic meals in Madrid.
As time went by, we had to go back to town. Fernando wanders around us, overlooking the hills of El Mol, and you can see the vineyards. We dropped in a little to the local church with the name of El Molar's saint protector. We talked about religious feasts. I found many similarities with Orthodox but it is a moment of magical talking without knowing little language.
